About us

The Property...

The Garth Hotel was built in 1769, and through-out the years it has been an important cornerstone of Grantown-on-Spey. It began its time as a highland woollen mill, however has also been home to Queen Victoria’s favourite author, and residence to the towns physicians and ministers. Now, we enjoy the property as it has been known for many years – a vibrant, relaxed hospitality environment.

The Garth Hotel is perfectly placed; just a 2 minute walk to the museum, the town square, and the high street. The Craig Maclean leisure centre and the Grantown-on-Spey 18 hole golf course are both just a 5 minute walk from the Garth Hotel. A truly central position for exploring what Grantown, Badenoch and Strathspey has to offer

Enjoy a Speyside Malt

Bar & Beer Garden…

Enjoy sampling some typical Speyside malt whiskies in the comfort of our bar or beer garden, or why not try our very own hand-pulled Ale.

Our beer garden has proved popular and is the perfect spot for sitting and watching the world go by. It can be enjoyed in all weathers – A little snow transforms our gardens, and with the comfort of some open-fire heating, it is an opportunity not to be missed.

Timeless…

The Snug…

Our old Boardroom has been opened up to extend the Snug Room and create inviting new versatile areas. Our Snug Room can be enjoyed with a drink from the bar, as a pleasurable setting for a meal, or simply as a quiet area for digesting one of our local newspapers next to an open fire.

We are very proud to showcase original elements of the house, presented in a clean and modern fashion.

Committed to Local…

Here at the Garth Hotel, we aim to provide charming Scottish Hospitality at it’s very finest; providing excellent quality food and beverage, sourced in the most sustainable and environmentally-encouraging fashion. From our herbs grown in our very own organic gardens, to our relationships with the local butchers and fishmongers, our mission is to provide an impeccable locally-sourced experience from start to finish.

It is in our DNA to support and promote our local skill-set from within the Cairngorm National Park. Over 90% of the overall hotel suppliers are local, our contractors are local, and all of our staff are from within 4 miles of the property!
